Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
Couple really cool things, half of them items the community has been asking for for years. Them releasing the teleporting feature only now is mind-boggling but better late than never as they say.
I had already made up my mind about cancelling my membership for the first time this summer but these changes might make me reconsider. Not only because it’s really useful things but also because it finally looks like they started listening to their core user base.
Speaking of working together. Why doesn’t Strava show a Zwift map when Strava knows the activity is a Zwift virtual ride?
Yup, I agree.
I know that Strava wants to remain the “Switzerland” of sports fitness, but ultimately for a platform with nearly 1 million users, it’s time for stuff like that to be done.
better yet why does Strava then hide the start and finish of said virtual ride-they don’t want people to find your virtual hideaway?
There’s an app for that: ZwiftMap for Strava
link to chrome.google.com
Simple browser extension, works perfectly.
Zwift listening to it’s users: refreshing!
We need a native macOS app to enjoy it with 4k, shadows, and more textures. I’m hoping Apple discontinues Rosetta support in the macOS 14 forcing Zwift to either support it or lose customers.
I tried the hub update after my Watopia stage today. The update just seemed to hang. Tried twice for about ten minutes each time today.
Will try next time I guess.
Love the coffee stop idea.
Very handy if I drop something.
Other option is that I have a litter picker hanging off the bike but I bet I’d drop that.
Big “High Five” to Zwift for the mute on the club chat.
It still seems too difficult to generate any sort of breakaway with the new pack dynamics. I’ve done a few races, and the only difference I’ve noticed is when a rider drops off the back of a group they put in a small effort and are fired like a rocket straight back to the front of the pack
Zwift please speed up showing route from menu selection. The route marker used to show it so fast that it was natural. Now when I click on a route I have to wait a long time to see what the route looks like. Cursor too slow draws it. Wouldn’t it be better if the route was already drawn?
Hanging updates became bricked hubs for me. Twice. Zwift replaced them but they’re having issues. There’s some unknown device/hub compatibility issues that seem to turn firmware patches into unrecoverable errors.
I don’t understand this Climp Portal madness. For me, it’s completely unnecessary. If I have to climb without a 3D route, I prefer to do it for free from the Wahoo Roam Counter level :). I’m uploading a GPX route that I want and driving.
The “Coffee Stop” should have been named “The Dumoulin”. Granted, he might have not liked that and I am sure Zwift is tired of litigation at this point.
Seems like they might actually have started to listen. But some of this stuff as been asked for for years. Climb portal sounds like a good start, but it appeard it will only take you to the climb zwift has decided. Why are we still not able to navigate freely between worlds, choose own climbs even if its a list. Why has it taken so long for thr keep together function for club events when it was an initial feature of meet ups. There are so many work arounds to most of the issues on zwift, so we all know it can be done, so why aren’t they just native in zwift?
Traditionally, short stops where you then catch back up have been referred to as “nature breaks.”
