Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. Do we get a race report as part of a 5 Things… Post? 😬
No, this type of race simply can’t be squished into a 5 Thigns Post. It’s gonna need it’s own post (and video). Maybe tomorrow? Probably Thursday though. A lot going on the next 72hrs.
Well now I want to know what the race was…
You could see in his Insta Stories he raced a cargo bike race. And he took it seriously, also the girl.
But surely now that muc off have created a device that fits it in the tyre, the first place a well respected bike theif will check, is in the tyre
Every well respected bike thief will use an android app to identify any AirTags.
True, but in many cases, hindering the first few seconds – especially for something like this, is important. And, if the person can’t find the AirTag in seconds, they might well move on before they start.
So what. Time is everything. If they now have to cut the lock and check for an AirTag, it may be just not worth it for thieves.
Any idea whether Garmin are going to support the new Health Connect hub?
It’ll be a game changer if the big guys get onboard.
> Wahoo sells more gear in Europe
Perhaps that includes EVERY item they make like the Bolt computer etc. That could skew the data since Tacx is “just Tacx” with Garmin having the label on the bike computers and so forth. I don’t think the article went into detail on where that data is from.
And, perhaps even more important, the fact that they sell more in Europe than in the US doesn’t mean they sell more than Tacx/Garmin.
Perhaps the European market is simply larger.
Theoretically it is. Europe’s population is over twice as big as the US.
That fitbit murder story was nuts, I remember first reading about that one a couple years ago. What surprised me the most, at the time, was that law enforcement investigations thought to check the fitbit device the victim was wearing, analyze the data, and correlate it against the suspect’s alibi. Impressive detective work.
Indeed. I’m sure there’s probably some great courses/talks at crime-related tradeshows on pulling data from wearable devices and aspects to consider.
I know the prosecutor in the fit bit case. It was very interesting.
“Second, holy balls this is an in-depth article.” This what rating agencies do (note the quotation marks) … and the actual report would have had a few pages of numbers showing all their work for the numbers cited in the article.
Yeah, impressive stuff. Would be interested to see the actual report, especially for the references on the Europe sales side.
I don’t have Zipp wheels or a ROLLR but how would Zipp know if a customer used the ROLLR? I’m not saying people are not honest but I’ve got to think if your wheel has a problem and Zipp says “hey, did you use these on the ROLLR?” most customers would say nope.
Re the Oura patents, if their patent applications didn’t cite the prior art that’s (a) shoddy work by their patent agents/attorneys and (b) almost certainly fatal to the patent registrations. I have no doubt that Circular Ring will countersue in an attempt to invalidate the registrations.
