Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
For the next time: painting pole to 1/4″ tripod adapter:

You’d have to add a tripod to GoPro adapter in there too, but painting poles give lots of options
All the photos You take are from GoPro camera?
In this case, the only GoPro photo I used in this post was from the selfie-stick while riding the bike. Everything else was from my phone.
What no drone to take the pictures of the 2nd floor?
Yeah, that was my first thought as well, except two issues:
A) Flying drones in Amsterdam is illegal (due to the airspace next to AMS airport having planes on final approach over the city). Now technically, this specific spot would have been covered by a roof, with open-air on the side. Perhaps someone who is better at reading Dutch would know whether this would be subject to the rules (or if indoor flying is subject to them within range of an airport – in the US, the FAA rules are only applicable to open air flying).
B) The reflections. Even if I got a drone up there (trivial technically), the window would have made the reflections too tough to see anything. In my GoPro shots, only the ones that were perfectly against the glass were even half-usable. :-/
Still waiting on the key…
Any word on when the production Scosche will be out to market?
Very soon. They had a first production run on the loading dock to go out the door when they discovered an issue with QA on some cases/shells had failed a specific test. So they circled back to pause production while they sort out why the QA process didn’t catch it like it should have. It doesn’t sound like much of a delay though.
Just think of the positive, by eating all those gnats you got some extra protein :-p
Hahrgg! In Sweden, gnats (knott) eats you!
Knott are evil micro-mosquitos that will attack in swarm- or stealth-mode. The latter in the form of a golf-ball-size swarm of distilled hatred of all mammals that goes right into your ear!
I have my Coros Pace headed at me tomorrow, excited to test it out and see how it compares to the 935.

Thanks!
I attach my Virb to my gutter cleaner pole and use the WiFi to see exactly where I need to scoop out leaves.
The eTap groupset with 9100 crank is a wrongun.
Yeah, I had needed a Shimano crankset for the Avio power meter…so…that kinda worked.
These gnats/knuts are horrible. I guess there was no wind that day. Maybe the next time head out for the coast, direction of Zandvoort or IJmuiden through Spaarnwoude . Lots of bikepaths there. But avoid the sunny weekends. Bikepaths will be crownded with old people on e-bikes.
As a German, might I advise you that, in our experience, routing through Belgium does not always get you the results you’re expecting.
Winner of the internet for the day
Thanks Erik, you just made my day!
