Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
A few comments mixed together. First about your point of different audiences. I do look at your YouTube videos at times, but since I rely on the auto-craptions (errr.. captions) to understand what you are saying, your written articles are better for me to make sure I understood correctly what message you were trying to convey. And then there are the videos like the COROS Pace where the captions just give up altogether. (wind/airplane noise)
Secondly, about the media swag bag, not sure if I missed it or not, but the bag itself is pretty sharp too! Not like one of those cheap drawstring backpacks I get at some races.
I prefer reading here (much extensive archive and reliable searching), however there are exceptions… Like the Red Convertible Media Car at the TdF 2017 was definitely a “must see on YouTube” category…
I am wondering if cyclists will drop used chilling vests during the race, as they do now with bidons. Nice souvenirs for fans worth couple of hundreds bucks.
Haha…I don’t think so this time around, but that would be pretty sweet!
Pretty sweat if not pretty cool. :)
Alright! Alright! I’ll watch your freaking videos! ;)
I typically check in during the morning commute. Bandwidth in Canada is stupid expensive, reducing the feasibility of checking out your vids off wifi. However, guided by your “gentle” reminder, I’ll try to follow up on all the vids I see in your articles that always mean to watch but never do.
Does it really matter tho? It’s not like YouTube is going to let you monetize them!!
Curious if the audience segmentation breaks down by age or some other demo? I prefer the site because I’m older and in the habit of using an RSS feed. I also think I read quicker than the time it would take to watch a video. Final reason for my preference is that I’m often reading around the family or when in bed and don’t keep headphones on or nearby most of the time.
You are a blessed journalist that is also a talented photographer – must s*ck for you, but in a good way.
Is the heat adding to the number of mechanical issues? Not sure how well the Di2 batteries and other electrical components are holding up at those temps.
Perhaps you could hit BMC up for some sort of “ice case” for your iphone?
The glass looks like an insulated coffee cup. Probably for espresso or single servings, but can’t be sure.
You all should check out the YouTube videos. The ride along is great, I always wonder how much they hold on to the car during repairs, it seems not much. The insider view is awesome from FDJ.
Read site early in bed, with coffee and wife near. She would shoot me if audio on.
I would shoot her if she watched her type of youtube.
