Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!

Hey Ray,
Typo alert on the 920xt firmware notice: “Big fixes mostly”
Is it a Bug fix or Big Fix? or a Big Bug Fix?
Sorry for being that guy….
It is but a little bug that wants to be big to some. :)
Did you watch the Breaking 2 attempt yesterday? They was an epic effort!
I was travelling unfortunately, but, it’s on my to-do list. Still, been keeping up with it. I linked to one piece I thought was well written on it (above), from those whose opinion I think matters most on it. Enjoy!
Hi Ray,
Speaking of VIP sales, I came across the Recon Jet glasses for 140€. That’s a low enough price to get in my impulse buy territory but I was wondering whether it was still a reasonable purchase.
Did you manage to test the VIRB integration and do you know if the glasses are waterproof?
I haven’t tested action cam integration, but they are water resistant enough (I believe they are IPX7 offhand).
Polar is having a 20% off sale on their site for mother’s day as well, but I think that it’s newest devices are excluded (M430, M460,M600)
Nice.
You can actually use the 20% Clever Training discount above for the newer Polar items. :)

Actually this is IKEA’s second bike – they brought out a 20″ wheeled folder a few years ago, built by Raleigh

For IKEA bike, do I have to assemble it myself? I feel like it will fall apart like everything else.
Is it my idea or the FR 235 is a Beta firmware?
Sorry, yes, that whole line item is. Just forgot to type beta. My bad!
I noticed an additional feature added to the Fenix 5 beta firmware didn’t make the final 935 3.30 firmware that just came out:
Added support for a new app, ‘Boating’.
link to www8.garmin.com
I’m not saying I care about boating, but is an indicator of the 935 not keeping up with the functionality that will come to the F5. Ray, do you know if this was their intention to leave the functionality off?
I don’t know of any intentions, but I would note that generally speaking the Forerunner team lags behind the Fenix team when it comes to this stuff. While they operate from the same general codebase, they have different testing and release schedules.
I was wondering the same thing, but apparently it is actually there. To quote a Garmin mod on the 935 forum,
It is not called out in the change log, but Boating is on the Foreurnner 935 in version 3.30
Maybe my pessimism on the 935 will be proved wrong :) This will be my 10th Garmin GPS
