Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily

It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!

I couldn’t quickly find one where the family sans Kevin is watching a French-dubbed “It’s a Wonderful Life”
It’s funny, I had completely forgotten the family flies to Paris. :)
” … to check out some goats on the lawns leading up to Invalides.”
Sorry to disabewese ewe but I don’t think they are goats.
I think that they are sheep of the Ouessant variety. The ram in the foreground has horns but the the girls in the background are polled.
I just thought that you would like to know. (Maybe!)
I don’t think lazing around the house is a French thing, I think it’s a most people other than the Makers thing! The rest of us get tired just reading about your weekends :)
I did like the “bar hoping with a baby”, is that hoping there’s no further meltdown? Not even sure it’s a typo!
We hope every day. But in most cases, only hoping away will help.
Looking at that first photo of the Peanut in the DCR cave I couldn’t help chuckle thinking about all the havoc she is going to wreak in there once she’s up and moving.
“I need to cleanup my drivetrain a bit” <– understatement of the year!
ray, do you cycle on your trainer while the peanut is awake or asleep? if awake, does she fall asleep while you are cycling? have a toddler myself but i haven’t dared to cycle with her in the room yet (somehow the wife thinks it’s borderline neglect)
Awake.
I haven’t gotten her to sleep on it yet, though we got incredibly close a month ago with both The Girl and i there riding. My guess is another few minutes and she’d have been out.
I wonder… are any of those trainers quiet enough to use while The Peanut sleeps?
And I see someone else already asked something similar haha.
Must be a parent thing I guess
We used to stick our kids in the bathroom with the fan going when they would refuse to go down for a nap (meltdown). White noise would put them out in less than a minute. Used either a bassinet or one of those lay back bouncy chairs.
Might be more an an Alabama thing than a Paris thing to go bar hopping with a baby.

As for lazing around on a Sunday, there’s a reason for the phrase “dad bod’. It’s because attending to peanuts, helping around the housing and lazy cuddling don’t give us lean bodies. Keep fighting the good fight though.
Hi DC Rainmaker,
Yes what a Nice week-end!
So great to see Watteam powerbeat is in the place. We’re expecting a lot! Still exciting waiting your clomplete review in.. January? Long is better than quick! Thanks a lot for sharin’
We’ll see on exact timing. Depends on how much riding I squeeze in over the next two weeks. Once January hits I’m gone literally the entire month (every day of it). So it’s now…or after.

Totally awesome. Nice find!
Do you continue the test of the watteam powermeter with a complete review in next days?? Thanks
Hi Ray,
Nice post. I was originally holding out for the WatTeam PM, but after the recall I went with a 4iiii single sided solution.
Do you know if 4iiii have any plans to release the dual sided upgrade kit (either branded as 4iiii or Cateye)? I see that they have it for Dura Ace on their website, but I’ve got 6800, so not ideal
Hmm, I vaguely remember the discussions around models – but can’t remember exactly what the plan was. I’ll circle back to them (which I need to do anyways for the in-depth review).
props to you for taking the aero bike on the busy streets.
do you actually drop into aero or just ride out on the hoods? It doesn’t look like you have di2 shifters on your brake hoods so even more props to you with the one handed shifting.
Mostly just the hoods, though aero in the parks somewhat.
I never had dual shifters, even while on a mechanical setup on this bike (or previous tri bike), so kinda just got used to it to be honest. If I were to re-wire it, I’d definitely go to a dual setup.
But I suspect I’d get another bike before that happens.
That’s exciting news about the WatTeam power meter! Did they give an indication on when they’ll start taking orders and actually begin shipping to new customers?
