Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
The Camile movie on KS is… long and not so informative… which makes you a somewhat suspicious… Maybe I’m just tired of ads that tell you about freedom and conquering mountains, wind in your face and all that. It’s more impressive to show the real people who initiated a cool project.
But it seems like they are about to reach their goal, so good luck.
As for the Elemnt- Really curious to read your report.
Coming to paris in a months time and plan to picnic in champ de mars. Any recommendations on where to buy food nearby?
Was going to pop into berties for a cupcake treat but closed. Sad panda :-(
It’s funny, the area around the Champ de Mars is oddly really empty when it comes to good grocery stores. But, there is one at the end of it, just one block away that we usually use when we have to re-supply mid-day. It’s a Carrefour City: 42 Avenue de la Motte-Picquet, 75007 Paris
But that store has anything you’d need, plus, they have a slightly oversized supply of cold Rose & white wines (most smaller grocery stores won’t chill many wines ready for immediate consumption).
I used TBT on the ELEMNT for a charity metric century this weekend, it worked really great until the on route signage stopped matching what the route the coordinators had put on their website. Not the fault of the ELEMNT, but it did catch up again when I was back on track again. I’m impressed with it so far, it’s just a shame that RideWithGPS has such a route maker compared to Strava and MapMyRide.
PS Limits eh? I’d forgotten about them!
Double thanks for your Paris restaurant guide. We tried some of your picks and were not disappointed at all.
Glad you enjoyed! Indeed, we had dinner last night at one of the spots.
I’m easily annoyed when another event blocks your access to normally public areas, but then I remember that I take part in a few events during the year (usually sporting) which mean other people are blocked.
Cities benefit from a wide range of activities taking part inside them, even if it means some people are temporarily inconvenienced. If it’s a commercial enterprise however that’s a different story…
This seems to display on my laptop as the mobile version. I’ve tried from the homepage and from my RSS reader. See attached.
Seems to be fixed now!
