Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!

I plan to do my first run since the Boston marathon…perhaps 2-3 slow miles, some biking to the end of the road (i’ll be at the beach), and tennis may be in the cards. Go bunny!
I just found your blog and am so excited! Love those redditors for always hooking me up with great blogs to check out. I’ll be visiting the family over the long Easter weekend – hoping to go out for a couple short runs with my sister to get her excited about running again!
I plan on a 30-35 mile ride and maybe a track workout this weekend. Thanks Ray!

Planning a 30-35 mile ride and maybe a track workout, thanks Ray!
Funny easter stories? My whole childhood, all the chocolate bunnies I received from the “easter bunny” had the ears missing. Sometimes the butt too but mostly just the ears.
No great Easter story…
Probably a couple of miles on Saturday.
Most likely a cool 5 miler on Sunday morning, with 20-25 miles on the stationary bike to get enough cardio training while I recover from a calf strain.
My girls create ‘rotten’ eggs every year. The egg is dropped into all the colors, and over time, gets a deep, nasty color to it. It’s known as the rotten egg.

Planning on running 16k … practicing for the National Capital 1/2 Marathon in May.

Keep up the great work friend. Looks awesome in DC these days.

Planned workout: a long easy run this Saturday.
My planned workout this weekend includes a hill infested brick on Saturday followed by Easter brunch and a 2.5 hour bike on Sunday. The brunch is my treat for surviving Saturday’s hills.
I remember 3 years ago when my daughter was only 6 years old. There was a mother duck guarding her eggs on the side of the house. It was hilarious and cute when my daughter was battling with the mother duck over the pile of eggs which she thought was potentially a treasure of hidden easter eggs. She left crying. Score… Duck 1… Daughter 0…
Please let it be me.
Nom Nom
Would love to have one of these .. I am a tech-running junkie!

My brother and I have thrown fistacuffs on two seperate occasions for Easter as a result of who ended up with the yellow Peeps (as opposed to the blue Peeps). I hope this year my parents remember to get us both yellow, otherwise someone is going down. BTW, great work at Bumpass.
Funny… I guess that my wife likes Easter so much that a few different years I’ve hidden Easter eggs just for her out in the yard. Easy brownie points… Low hanging fruit… All very important lessons for someone about to get married.
Growing up my Mom would make flour paw prints all over the house leading to the hidden candy, to this day I have no idea how she got in and around so many places. And more than once we’d find egg candies or jelly beans hidden several months after Easter and one time being overly excited I would bit down on my treasure and almost broke my tooth because it was so hard. Happy Easter everyone.
No funny Easter stories but I will say it’s funny to fill up eggs with glitter or flour and crack them on family members heads. Especially if they have long hair. But it’s not so fun when it happens to me :( Oh well it’s a tradition in the family :)
Workout this week is last 20 mile run of this training cycle!
Training for some upcoming 10k’s and 8.5 milers, small fry in the DC Rainmaker scheme of things, tough ask for my joints!
Pick me! I could use it for long runs in Singapore!

oopps..I forgot to say that the only remotely funny Easter thing is we had 3 year old jelly beans we had to finally toss when we were packing for our move last year!
All I remember about Easter is spending the afternoon feeling happy, full and slightly ill!
5K race Saturday and 2-3hr ride early Sunday (back before the bunny arrives)
Just a game that was so hilarious to us as kids- chubby bunnies. Put marshmallows in your mouth one at a time. After each one you have to say chubby bunnies. The person who does this successfully with the most marshmallows wins.
In Italy you celebrate the Easter fish who (in theory) leaves you a giant chocolate egg with a prize inside…unless of course you the one kid unfortunate enough to open your egg and find the confectioner forgot.
at age 30 and my dad at 62 we still find it hilarious to torture my mother by going to Abe’s Jewish bookstore in Silver Spring MD to buy plague finger puppets for passover dinner. They have a puppet for each plague: frogs, cattle disease, darkness and so on. We bring them out during the seder!
My planned workout is aerating my lawn which is a horrible mess. Years of neglect.
2 hours on the trails if my knee can take it. Speaking of the Easter Bunny, I think my neighbors are planning to eat him.
Growing up, we had an old-fashioned egg scale from my grandparent’s farm. The scale could weigh one egg at a time. For most of the year it held a ceramic egg, as it sat on our bookshelf. During Easter season, the Easter Bunny always hid a colored Easter Egg for us to find. I can remember more than one year when it was deep into the summer before we realized we had a purple egg sitting in the scale. Never had the guts to crack one open before throwing it away.
This Easter, my work out will be lifting the fork to my mouth!
No funny Easter stories, though as kids we used the plastic eggs as bombs in some bizarre war game with my cousins. This weekend the plan is to somehow fit a 10-mile run in on Saturday after the girls do a local Easter egg hunt and before a concert we’re supposed to go to in the afternoon. I’d love to fit a ride in on Sunday, but there’s already so much going on that it’s doubtful.
No Easter for me anymore :( Going for a 7 miler and a trip to see the flowers bloom though!
COMMENT! Oooh, looks so cool :)
Thanks for the giveaway, count me in!!
some recuperation this week after a hard trainingweek in sunny hot spain.
Swim on Saturday.
Hello! :)
Easter’s not celebrated much here where i live…but shall i tell you that i just started running? I ran my first 5k last weekend, and I felt so freakin’ proud. I wanna train for the ten kilometers, but i have to really start slow :)
katch05 at gmail dot com
Nothing special planned. After fighting down my cold hope to get back in to regular running during the next days.
I actually don’t have any funny Easter related stories, except this year our Easter holydays will be much louder and with less time for training, as our family got bigger. In September our three years old daughter Ana got a sister and Vita just started crawling so maybe after the holydays I will send you a funny Ester story.
Sooner or later you both will be in the same position – and you will love it.
In the mean time – check me in for one brand new Garmin Forerunner FR610 please.
Best regards
Love your site and would love a Garmin!
Hi there! Just find your blog while looking for a running watch. Have read with high interest the review of the 210 and 610. As my wrist is quite small, no other is fitting (even the 410 is too big).
So my semi-marathon being on May 21 and my first marathon on October 2 have decided to run a bit more efficient!
Have a nice time in DC!
//Hugs from Sweden
Karibou
Plan to run 20K after the Paris marathon 2 weeks ago.
Running an 8-mile trail race through the woods in sunny Devon. Starts as one lap on the service lane of a horse racing track !
Happy Easter !
mabooth_uk@hotmail.com
I’m celebrating my birthday today and then spending the rest of Easter working. What a birthday present a new Garmin Forerunner would be:-)
Once found an egg from the year before…it did not smell nice.
I wish I can use the Forerunner 610 to qualify for Boston Marathon 2013. Thank you for all information that you provide on a daily basis. Massi
I had a dream last Easter that I will win something interesting and useful and it starts with the letter G follow by some numbers, and then I woke up and found denture gone…
In tapering period before my first marathon, so according to the plan should do 14k with intervals on Saturday and 18k easy on Sunday. Happy Easters everyone!
Funny Easter story. Last year a co worker took some creame eggs, used a large needle to suck the creame out. Then injected toothpaste and put them out at work. Some how one guy did not taste the toothpaste, ate an entire egg then ended up going home sick.
This year he put out creame eggs again and people took them but would not eat them till it was proved they had not been tampered with.
4 day long weekend here in New Zealand. Plan to get in a run or two before the relatives get out of bed.
thanks for giving away the FR610 – hope it goes to me!
Nice easter present
I plan to do a 3 hour road bike workout in saturday and rest the sunday.
Today I will run 16k, the weather is fantastic! warm and sunny :D after this i will go on an inlining tour. On Saturday I will run 5k and on Sunday the next big run will take place: 18k :D Yeeeeha
Only plans I have, is eating a lot of chocolate. (no workouts for me yet after recent knee surgery)
But a brand new Garmin would really go down well to work away all that easter chocolate once the knee is up for it again!
Thanks for doing this.
I plan to ride a Century on Saturday.
Planned workout(s): Training camp in Luxembourg for Challenge Aarhus in July. I’ll be doing combinations of bricks, swim, bike, run, and crossfit endurance to get strong and ready for the half ironman distance.
If I win the watch I will donate it to a friend of mine who just gave birth to a baby boy – and subsequently went on to start winning half marathons just a few months later.
Weekend will be filled with wood chopping and canooing.
Planning trekking race on Saturday to get room for food on Sunday…
Can’t wait to get back to training after the exams!! :(
Sundown Marathon!
Chase the kids after they’ve filled up on chocolate!
consider me entered.

Hi Ray! Cool giveaway and cool review as always! Greetings from Germany! Heinz
Happy Easter, dcrainmaker!
I plan not to get sick although my kids have been ill all week. Instead, I have april sun and fresh air in mind!
The 610 looks great.
Have a good easter weekend folks!
I have just recently started to run and I have for the past half year try to get my self in shape so it would be great to win this forerunner.
p.s. thx for all these great blogs
This Easter weekend I will be doing a 3 hour bike ride with my tri club, plus an open water swim in an ice cold lake and a 5 mile run.
Discovered my three year old eating his chocolate egg that I thought was hidden very well….oh well better find a new hiding place.
As for this weekend, its the slow journey back from injury so a slow run and a couple of hours on the bike.
for some reason my google account won’t let me post my comment, so i’ll try anonymously with my name attached.
i don’t have any good easter stories on the top of my head, but i did enjoy finding the occasional long lost egg in the weeks following easter.
this weekend has a brick and some bike maintenance in store.
thanks.

Going away on a family-weekend for Easter. Going to bring my race-bike. Told the family that I’m bringing my race-bike “just in case we need some groceries or want fresh croissants” ;-) Have planned two 60K rides!
I’m coming back from hip-flexor tendinitis, so I’ll be happy to get a 10 mile run in on Saturday, when Michigan’s thumb might see temps reach 60F!
30min, 60min, 30min shin split recovery runs. Plus pea hinting with my 9m old son. He’s too little for chocolate but loves peas.
Thank You
Great Blog, Don’t know where you find the time. Must have more than a 24 hour day.
Hi DCRainmaker
Please enter me for the 610
Keek up the good work
Jack
ha, yes there is a boston in south africa, I live right near it, much smaller than the one the US trust me!
I hope you can send that forerunner all the way here WHEN I win!
4 hour ride on Sat. Getting ready for cda.
I could use a new running watch!
About 4 years ago, a bunch of us hid easter eggs all over our friends house while he was out of town. Well he moved away a few years ago and we just went to visit him…. There are still eggs hidden in items around his house!
Spending Easter enjoying the wildlife of Pantanal, Brazil. Training awaits my return at home. Love the blog, keep up the awesome work!
Last year my wife went overboard. We dyed 18 dozen eggs and did an Easter egg hunt for our kids. The only problem was that they found 1 less than we put out. We found it in July. ACK!
Please enter me! Then pick me!
I live in South Africa and only just learnt that we have a Boston here… your website is more educational that I figured!
Am also Jewish – so I get to spend Easter watching all those around me enjoying Easter eggs while I can’t each much because its Passover :-(
Got a swim in the AM and a nice cruisy group ride on Saturday… then maybe some chocolate…
no time to workout on Saturday, but am planning a 70-80 mile ride for Sunday morning. Gotta make room for Easter dinner!
I can remember finding real easter eggs hidden in the yard a month later. They were not fit for consumption at that point.
Not much in the way of Easter stories, but I am riding 50 and then bricking for 45 minutes…

Count me in, 10x.
10 mile run on Saturday and relaxing on Sunday eating candy throughout. Going to be great!
10K, Would be even better with the new Garmin.
Get in some miles and then some more miles. Basebuilding!
Easter weekend in Cape Town always plays host to the Two Oceans Ultra (56km) and the half marathon. For the first time in 3 years I’m missing on the ultra thanks to a torn hamstring. A new garmin would make me feel better though.
I plan to train only 2 days running, i started to run seriously 3 months ago (4-5times /week) since i went to my first 10k race and i really enjoyed. Im looking to buy a garmin to track my trainings/races and winning this giveaway could be perfect! ;)
Congratulations for your blog from spain!
Running on Saturday, biking on Sunday, plus some travel thrown in. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Hi Ray,
Great idea to set one unit free in your enthusiastic community! Thanks for your useful information here.
