Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2024 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
Good to see this year on year improving, seems like the women’s teams are getting more focus and sponsorship.
Hopefully not too long before they’re allowed to ride the whole tour!
No Powertap hub?! They dont respect tradition. :-)
Btw I wonder whether SRM still have a lucrative business or they are fully over the cash cow years.
Hi Ray,
Any update on the Look KEO Blade Power Re-Test? I‘m still torn between FAVERO Assioma and Look‘s new Powermeter. Don‘t want to go back to Garmin Pedals
At this point, I’m kinda at a loss.
I’ve got more pairs than I know what to do with, and I just can’t get them consistent. Every time I put them on a bike, they work for a day, and then a different day it’s substantially offset from my known-good references (Quarq + Tacx NEO 3M, or KICKR V6, or pick anything else really). I’ve put countless miles in to try and figure out the pattern, and every time I start going down that path, I have to focus on something else (namely, getting out other power meter reviews, so I have to take off these pedals to put something on I can trust).
To Look’s credit, they’ve offered to work with me to figure out what’s going on, and I definitely want to do that, but I just haven’t had the time (without impacting other power-related reviews) to dig into it, largely because it’s not just a one-ride thing, but variable over a longer stretch of rides.
:-/
Thanks
So I will go for proven reliability and choose Favero. Maybe have a look at Look next year again.
Unlikely to be seen in the pro ranks: Magene now has spider PMs and then there’s Sigeyi spiders, both ~$350. I recently got a Sigeyi and in my rudimentary testing are indistinguishable from my Assioma Duos. I’m considering a Magene or Sigeyi for my gravel bike, which now has my podded Assiomas on it.
Hi Ray, cool seeing you and the girl at the Femmes! Thanks for the pic with me and my son. My tech junkie friends back in Virginia we’re jealous.
I really wonder how far off next gen pedals are from favero and garmin? Anyone have a crystal ball?
So, by now Shimano must have heard that their power meters are inaccurate. And yet they’re mandating that the teams use them in competition. This is a disgrace.
