Good movement of Suunnto.
Btw Ray, I heard some cool Suunto hardware is coming soon…there was even a “secret” event under NDA at UTMB…you’re probably aware of it, right?
what kind of question is that erik? do you think ray would answer it on his own public website if he had signed a NDA?
nachos :)
It’s been some time since I owned my last Suunto. But I was always hoping that they will turn things around. Excited to see that we are getting there and even more excites for things to come.
You know who is not apparently busy in September updating anything, but especially updating hardware? Hammerhead.
I’m rooting for Suunto big time. I like where they are going. Loved the Vertical with one BIG exception…the lug dug into my wrist and was painful. Never had a watch do that before and have seen several other folks complain about the same issue. Look forward to seeing what hardware they have up their sleeves.
Anyone knows whether the Vertical is nowadays a bit more accurate with open water swimming since Rays last Vertical review? I am considering this watch for triathlon.
The Vertical openwater swim was improved in June23 update and is very accurate currently. Ray updated the Vertical review now in September with the text here below.
/Markus (from Suunto)
Update – September 2023: Here’s a recent track from an openwater swim comparing the Suunto Vertical to the Garin Epix during a swim, with a GPS reference track on the swim buy. As we can see, things are definitely significantly improved here, with only two relatively minor blips compared to the reference track (that the Epix didn’t exhibit). So that’s good to see for sure.
I never owned a Suunto watch, but do they really have one called ” Suunto 9 Nacho Cheese”? Or is that a typo? :P
I’ve long used Nacho Cheese in occasional posts to see if people are paying attention… ;
In fact, I even used to do it back in my IT days when I wrote 150-200 page engineering design docs, just to see if anyone actually read them (spoiler: nobody did).
LOVE the concept! I am also in IT, my technical writeups might not be longer than a few pages, but even then I suspect people don’t read or pay enough attention. You just gave me an excellent idea!
For tennis, ít would be good to add side-changing rules, also for tie breaks.
I’m a bit disappointed. Not even the gym timer, which is pretty basic, is compatible with Suunto 9 Peak. Does anyone know if Suunto plans to make the apps compatible with more of their watches?
yeah!
now I can’t wait to upgrade my S9PP, I seems it will be a tasty upgrade!
What is the best sport smartwatches available out there? Anyone can compare that with garmin fenix or venu 3? I heard new polar is crashing a lot.
