Socially Distant Sports Tech $500 Gadget Giveaway!

If there’s ever a time for a giveaway, this is definitely it. With a boatload of folks stuck inside, any bit of gadgetry cheer I can help usher in your general direction is a good. Plus, this post helps buy me a few more hours time to finish adding a couple of words to my nearly 11,000+ word long 2020 Indoor Trainer App Guide (you can see a sneak peek of it on my Instagram Stories). So whatever the reason – it’s time for a giveaway.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway effort.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on basically anything they sell (or get points instead that are kinda like cash).  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from a new trainer to a new watch. Or perhaps a new GoPro to properly document your backyard adventures, or simply new shoes to keep pacing around your living room.

In fact, with the current 20% off sale on smart trainers and related accessories, it’ll also cover a number of trainers that are now down to even $399 – sweet! Whatever floats your boat and keeps you happy (Note: While they don’t technically sell boats, they do sell stand-up paddleboards…which, are kinda like boats. And that also helps with social distancing. Just sail/paddle away!).

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of the last workout you’ve managed while properly social distancing. It’s as simple as that!

The reason you need a short description of ‘why’ is that if you just put a simple one-word answer (i.e. ‘Walk’), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM, especially if you’re pulling that can out of your hoarded stash.  Got all that? Good.

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Sunday, March 29th, 2020 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock. Anyone in the world may enter, there’s no limitations there. However, some products can’t be shipped internationally – though most can.

Midday run today, which I haven’t done on a weekday in years

  40. Michael Heinz

I’ve been using my GoPro to record outdoor rides (solo) for me to watch when I’m spinning in the basement. Among other things I managed to see (but not get good video of) are an osprey and a small flock of turkeys.

And I do mean the avian kind of turkey, not the extremely common flocks of parents with young children that have been flooding the cycling trails in desperation… (I don’t blame them, I’ve had toddlers, I can’t imagine how stir crazy they must be…)

  41. A lonely early morning run around town as the sun came up. I saw more turkeys than people.

  42. John B

Watched GCN for 30 minutes while on the trainer.

  43. Ionut Halota

  47. Tim Hartley

Two 50k rides – a week apart – first on my road bike (solo, of course), then on my TT bike. Almost 10 minutes faster on the TT bike.

  48. This morning I completed the running leg of the Tour of Watopia. Yesterday I finished the biking leg, and tomorrow I’m going to get some more of that double XP and maybe get to level 30 on the bike.

  49. Marcos Caraballo

Quick run around my gated community with the wife.

  50. Elizabeth d.

I hiked up 1200 feet in one mile with my 9 year old

  73. Allan Fong

    Insanity workout in the park!

  74. Hai-Ping Hwang-Twigg

Rode a peloton app FTP Ride in my spin bike. Spin bike is in the garage. Rode with the garage door open to see outside

  75. Arif

Lower my FTP number in zwift app by 20% and joined a group workout. Just to keep it easy during this hard time.

  76. Steve H

Really simple – a walk around the block. Fortunately there is a nice wide powerline reserve to keep everyone appropriately distanced.

  77. Jennifer Polk

Isolated in the woods with no bike, no bike trainer, but an endless pool. So a 30:00 swim in the endless pool that has a broken heater. ?

  78. Pat

because I don’t have nearly enough power meters (4 and counting) thanks to Zwift…

  79. Michael Perry

    Tour of Watopia, Stage 6

  80. Andy Schmit

I rode my Cervelo P3 in my living room for two-hours watching Star Wars: A New Hope. My Greyhound, LEGO, slept through all the trainer noise, blasters and SCUBA (Darth Vader) breathing.

When I got finished, went into the kitchen, started to open the cheese package, and BOOM he was wide awake.

    Made me laugh.

  81. Jim Flath

Zwift FTP booster, week 3 day 7!

  82. Rob McMurry

Definitely can use equipment during this difficult time.

  83. Tim

TrainerRoad 1:15 workout shortened to 1:00 by only cutting rest. It was brutal but had to do some parenting while kids are home too.

  84. Konstantin Kleine

Fighting a strong headwind without drafting (for about 100km of the 170km ride).

  85. Aar

I just got home from a short active rest around my extended neighborhood

  86. Mark

I did Shasta this morning in Trainer Road. Then I proceeded to work on my butt muscles and sat the rest of the day and studied.

  87. Daniela S.

My coworker organized remote yoga inspired stretch session. Eight of us joined her online.

  88. Daniel Mora

I went for a run after a month off from running, in my attempt to go fast and be away from home as less as possible, pace was a bit too high and I ended up with pretty bad DOMS..

  89. JapanRunner

I did a ‘solo’ run yesterday around my neighborhood, as here in Japan it is still allowed… but most likely not for long.

  90. Matt Rudd

I just put in a Z2 ride on Watopia!

  91. Jan Kelley

Got in a run through my neighborhood.

  92. Troy

I’m embarrassed to say my last work out was 4 weeks ago. Time to hop back on the train one foot at a time. Social distancing wasn’t a thing back then. I did about 1500m swim. 5x 200, 2x(4×50 descend 1-4), 100 warmdown

  93. Joel

Well… not hard… Just played video games all day long (after the workouts)

  94. Chris W

Last workouts have been Zwift and riding around the neighborhood with kiddie trailer.

  95. Paul Furniss

DC im one of your earliest followers.

  96. Jorge

Just walking endlessly around my house, wish I had a trainer. ?

  97. Last workout was a solo benchmark run for the Greg McMillan training program (via Garmin). Nice and quick outdoor run.

  98. Ben Woods

45min Pool Swim before all facilities were closed 1 week ago. Had COVID19 symptoms so no training this week but would be great to get a new toy for when I’m back active!

  99. Jose Martin Suarez Sanchez

I spent 45 minutes on the trainer.

  100. Joseph Hines

Just finished a quick Zwift on my vintage powerbeam pro ant + / Surley Traveler’s Check and Vector pedals. Also recently started Athlean X1 workout. Hitting it hard while stuck inside. Best to everyone…stay safe, work hard.
