Socially Distant Sports Tech $500 Gadget Giveaway!

If there’s ever a time for a giveaway, this is definitely it. With a boatload of folks stuck inside, any bit of gadgetry cheer I can help usher in your general direction is a good. Plus, this post helps buy me a few more hours time to finish adding a couple of words to my nearly 11,000+ word long 2020 Indoor Trainer App Guide (you can see a sneak peek of it on my Instagram Stories). So whatever the reason – it’s time for a giveaway.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway effort.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on basically anything they sell (or get points instead that are kinda like cash).  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from a new trainer to a new watch. Or perhaps a new GoPro to properly document your backyard adventures, or simply new shoes to keep pacing around your living room.

In fact, with the current 20% off sale on smart trainers and related accessories, it’ll also cover a number of trainers that are now down to even $399 – sweet! Whatever floats your boat and keeps you happy (Note: While they don’t technically sell boats, they do sell stand-up paddleboards…which, are kinda like boats. And that also helps with social distancing. Just sail/paddle away!).

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of the last workout you’ve managed while properly social distancing. It’s as simple as that!

The reason you need a short description of ‘why’ is that if you just put a simple one-word answer (i.e. ‘Walk’), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM, especially if you’re pulling that can out of your hoarded stash.  Got all that? Good.

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Sunday, March 29th, 2020 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock. Anyone in the world may enter, there’s no limitations there. However, some products can’t be shipped internationally – though most can.

  2. Hetal Patel

    Biked outside for 2 hours

  3. Martins

    1hr tempo workout

  4. Pre-empted the lockdown the other week. So, cleared out the garage allowing me to move the trainer from my office. I used only to use it once or twice a week, but now more like 5+ and things would have gotten smelly indoors.

Managed a fast and short order ride on Wednesday, solo ride keeping my distance, so Thursday was an easy one on the Greater London Flat.

According to Garmin, since social isolation started, I have never been fitter

  5. Daniel Aspinall

TrainerRoad – Goddard. Like everyone, no idea how long anything will take, so moving away from anything too structured and back to some basics.

  6. Stefan Piranty

60min jog at a 5:25min/km pace in Singapore’s midday heat in the East Coast Park. The heat itself ensures that I keep the right distance to other people who spend this time of day at home or at least in the shade.

  7. Thomas Nicolai

I did an Insanity workout in my living room while wearing a neoprene suit. The 58 minute workout included a 3 minute jog in place warm up & a 3 minute deep breathing cool down. Overall I burnt over 800 calories according to my Polar Vantage V. So-called distancing at its finest. :-)

  8. Bojan Kontrec

I did a half an hour trail run this morning. Hardly seen anyone else there. Freezing cold.

  9. Ellen

Pick me please. I’ve been a loyal reader for as long as I can remember and I am dying for an indoor trainer

  10. James Blast

7 mile hiking with steep climbs before breakfast and my horrible Homeoffice isolation!

  11. Duncan

I’m now home educating my 5 year old daughter after her school closed last Friday. Determined to make sure she moves we are doing PE with Joe (Wicks) each morning from the comfort of the living room, and then more exercise after lunch. Yesterday she did 10 minutes on a cross trainer, and today we’re going ‘fast walking’ (her choice) in the local wood.

It’s currently 5am, and I’m now off to do 1 hr on the turbo in the garage ?

  12. Stoney

Jumping rope in my garage and push ups :D

  13. Charles Y

  21. Tobias Wilms

    Easy 5k morning run.

  38. Pierre Hilbert

I went for a sub 1 hour jog while staying at less than 1km from home as required here.
Then I did a zwift session where I compared the power data between my tacx Neo2 and Verve Infocrank PM Result : the tacx underreads by 5 to 10%. Pretty surprising since I trust my Infocrank. Next time I’ll add the assiomas in the test, and probably my good old power2max later.

  39. Jörg

it was a slow run in the sun without seeing just one other person. Nice but a little spooky.

  45. Ian

Not my last workout, but today is 10 x 1-mile progressive with each mile faster than the previous one. I will do this on a treadmill in a room that is 82 degrees F with no fan. It’s going to hurt. The room setup is not by choice.

  54. Artem A.

I drove some 85 km (50+ miles) there and back to another town last Monday evening to do my last swim just a couple of hours before the local authorities closed all gyms/pools there aswell. It was at my friend’s gym and by the time I got there, I was the only person swimming there.

I had a LSD session on my bike on the trainer at home on Zwift. Both physical social distancing and well as virtudal social distancing (zwift indicationg of distance to rider in front proves very useful in this asoect! ??)
