I would get my dad a new cycling computer (wahoo bolt likely) to replace his quite old, and less than stellar Garmin Edge 800 (the battery lasts all of about 4 hours now). This would let him record his longer rides, since he is a data nerd (former computer software engineer). This would also be a good way to convince him to join me on an epic ride sometime!
