The Because It’s Friday $500 Sports Gadget Giveaway!

DCRGiveaway2018Products

Today is Friday – you made it to the end of the week – and almost to the end of spring. But more importantly, today is also National Strawberry Shortcake Day (Don’t trust me? Look it up.) Unfortunately, I don’t expect to eat any Strawberry Shortcake today. Or tomorrow. And sure, I could have titled this ‘Father’s Day Gadget Giveaway’, but some countries celebrate that on other weekends (lookn’ at you, Australia).

In any case, it seems reason enough to give away some gadget goodness.  But fear not, I won’t be restricting this to those in specific countries (Australia or otherwise).  Anyone, anywhere on earth, is welcome to join as always.  Also, I think we just need more cake holidays to have faux reasons for me to give stuff away. It’s been far too long.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway crime.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on almost anything they sell (or get points instead).  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from the GoPro Hero 7 Black (which is actually $70 off through Sunday, the lowest we’ve seen it), to the just shipping new Stages Dash units, to a random pair of socks, the Garmin Forerunner 945, or heck, even towards a new power meter.  Whatever floats your boat (note: they don’t sell boats…wait, update, they do!).  Also note, your credit is in US dollars, not Australian – otherwise you’d get less.  Nobody wants less.

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of what product you’d get and why (but don’t worry, you can change your mind later if you win). Or, you can leave a description of which product your dad would want for Father’s Day.

The reason you need a short description of ‘why’ is that if you just put a simple product name (i.e. FR945), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM.  Got all that?

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Monday, June 17th, 2019 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock.

I’d love a smart trainer to replace my dumb trainer.

  57. Vítor Rosa

Hello Ray, for sure it’s been a while, but, if the regular followers are like me, they (like me) won’t miss another chance to win some goodies; for me, it would be an Edge 530 or an Edge 830, to replace my “old” Edge 800 (which still works, but…. you know what I mean, right? ;) Keep up the good work, all the best

  58. Justin Ashford

Garmin 945 to upgrade my 230…

  59. Patrick Greene

Wahoo Kickr because I cannot hear myself think with the noise my old Taccx Vortex Smart puts out. Not a dig on Taacx, but it’s old and the bearings are going…love it otherwise :)

Smart trainer, so I can actually ride again!

  61. Austin

I’d get the new Garmin 945!!

  64. Steve Tramleasure

I’d buy a Garmin Running watch of some sort. Thanks!

  65. Ian Smith

Time for a new bike head unit. A shiny new Garmin or even a Wahoo.

  66. Ahbe

Well, of the pictures above I’d probably go for the GoPro. I don’t have an action camera. But, if I do win I might have to reconsider what I actually need, instead of just a new toy. But I do like toys. ;-)

  67. Stacey

I would get a Garmin 530 because the elevation function on my Forerunner 935 is broken again!

  68. Pete Lambertz

    Need a new trainer!!

  69. Kyle Pennell

Go Pro. Cause I’ve always wanted one!

  70. A new power meter for sure. I just started training with power, and now I am obviously favoring training on the one bike in the stable that’s got a power meter.

  71. Laurent

A Garmin Fenix 5 plus would be awesome. As a friend of me is pressuring me (as a cycling enthousiast) to accompany him on his runs. Perhaps this watch could give me a headstart ?

  72. Jeff Tignor

Garmin 945! I’m still using a 920XT and I’d appreciate some of the new features on the 945.

  73. Francis Yates

If I had $500 to spend.. it would definitely be on a Garmin 945.. as a triathlete and a techno data geek.. I can never have to much information.. plus it would be nice to have the latest and greatest for my training for 70.3 worlds in Nice :)

  74. Tijs

A solid smarttrainer for those wet evenings!

  75. Paul Tomblin

    Garmin 945

  78. Brandon Carmichael

I would probably get the Forerunner 945…because, why not?

A new Garmin for my wife!

  83. Steve

A garmin fenix 5 plus so I can train to beat my wife in the next triathlon…

  84. Tanner

    Quarq!!!

  85. Stephen Nash

I’d pick one of the GPS wrist wearables. My old faithful Garmin 910xt broke during a race and I don’t know what to get next. This would make things easier.

  86. Erik B

A forerunner 945 so I don’t have to carry around a phone on my runs just to get my podcast / music fix.

  87. AndyJ

I think I would use it towards an electronic group set and upgrade my shifting. It must be that which is holding me back in mediocrity

  88. Jack Dusthimer

power meter, likely pedal based. Hope to prepare differently for next triathlon

    Garmin Forerunner 945

My fathers day gift to myself would be a power meter to monitor my pitiful power numbers.

  93. Alan

    Gotta be a Garmin 945

  94. Erol Bayram

I’d get the Go Pro with garmind edge :)

  95. TDS

Maybe a music equipes running watch?

  96. Nathan

I would pick up a power meter bc I’m too cheap to buy one

  97. Luke

Garmin descente. Because I want it

  98. Miquel

My Fenix 3 needs a replacement and the Fenix 5X Plus seems a good choice

  99. Nate

A new power meter, maybe the vector pedals. Bc my crank exploded and killed my power meter
