The Didn’t Get What You Wanted $500 Gadget Giveaway

DSC_6546

I’m sure many of you received various sports gadgets over the last few weeks as part of the holidays.  But for those unlucky elves who received only a half-eaten gel packet in their Christmas stocking from their not-so-significant others, I’ve got a festivus of a present for you: This giveaway.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway crime.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on basically anything they sell (or get points instead).  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from the GoPro Hero5 Black to a Garmin Vivoactive HR to a random pair of socks to the PowerTap C1 power meter, or heck, even towards a new trainer.  Whatever floats your boat (note: they don’t sell boats).

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of what product you’d get and why (but don’t worry, you can change your mind later if you win).

The reason you need a short description of ‘why’ is that if you just put a simple product name (i.e. F3), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM.  Got all that?

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Thursday, December 29th, 2016 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock.

I would like the get the Fenix5 tri-bundle but would settle for the Fenix3. I although I love my 910 it is starting g to get old.

A Fenix 3. My 920xt is on the way out :(

  10. Marty Girvan

I am a newbie to the Tri racing world. I have learned a lot from your DC Rainmaker website, especially on the tech side of product review and narrowing down my options for my needs. Thank you and happy new year.

I need a trainer, so I would probably go that route. I am leaning towards the TACTX.

  11. Matthew Savage

Garmin Virb Ultra 30 would be top of my list.

  12. Tan Yee Hou

I’d get myself a cheap-ish power meter, and a heart rate monitor.

  18. mike

    power for the bike!

Speed and cadence sensor and heart rate monitor.

  21. Jonathan

I’d go for a smart trainer to hook up to TrainerRoad!

  23. Nick Ward

A new 920xt because my vivoactive has given up the ghost and I need an upgrade ;)

  24. Keith Bryant

Pretty sure I will put it toward a new indoor trainer. Maybe the Cyclops Hammer or the Tracx Flux.

  25. Scott Michaels

Withings scales! Gotta shift those kilos of christmas chocolate!

  26. Stephen vallance

I didn’t get the p1 pedals I wanted. Santa said I was bad this year.

  27. I would love to get a Wahoo Kickr, $500 would go a long way to purchase that and make my winter training sessions better.

  28. Lasse Sørensen

    Definately a garmin 820.

  29. Todd

Garmin vivosmart, plan to start swimming this year and would like something to help keep track of progress.

  30. Drew Lanier

  32. Shane o c

I hope to start training with power in 2017 so a power meter for me.

    I’d put it toward a non-garbage trainer.

  34. Dave D

    Smart trainer for zwifting

  35. Jonatan Leff Yaffe

Hmmm I would really like a power meter, or a new Triathlon watch? Haha there’s just so much stuff, it’s impossible to make a decision!

  36. Will S

I would pick up a Garmin Fenix 3. Love the watch, but cannot justify the price for the use it would get.

  37. Wendy

A fitbit charge 2 and shoes!

I need something with a HRM. I’m currently going thru treatment for NH Lymphoma, and although I try and work out, doing Crossfit and training for a Ragnar relay, my heart rate quickly escalates, and I need a way to keep track of it. I figure a FitBit does the deed, but and Apple Watch 2 would be turnkey.

  46. Neil Glessner

    Gopro 5!

  47. Cody Riley

I would love to win a GoPro Hero5 Black to film my sons and I working on our mountain biking skills and to film an XTERRA race video.

  52. Sébastien P

I’d like an Apple watch to be a great geek runner!

  53. Ashley Blake

Def would go towards a smart trainer – like a kickr! I spend Way too much time trying to get my base model set up correctly, and second guessing the accuracy. Do I have the tension right? How many knob twists past touching the tire?

  54. Mitchell Mond

I would get the Garmin VIRB so I can take video during my running and biking.

  55. Joakim Wiren

I’d buy me an activity tracker :-)

  64. Philip L

A power meter and Garmin 820 to help me become a super awesome cyclist.

I would get a smart watch!

  71. Lani Ralston

If I won, I would get a bike trainer for my friend.

  73. Doug

A Fenix 3 hr to keep track of all my adventures.

I really want some Powertap P1 pedals, however a new trainer is appealing since rollers aren’t that fun

  77. Steven De Vlieger

I’d probably get a 2nd power meter for on the MTB. Or a Garmin Edge 820 to fianlly have live Strava segments. Or aa DYI lactate kit. Or let’s get…*GRRRR I CAN’t CHOOSE!!!!* :-)

  78. Andreas Huber

    Edge 520 or GoPro5

  80. Stuart

I’d get the GoPro Hero5 Black to finally capture all my adventures!

  81. Scott

I think I’d hang on to the credit for a few months and see if there is a worthy successor to the 920XT. Otherwise, I’d probably grab a Fenix 3 HR.

  82. Tom

Id get the fenix 3. Was hoping for it but I got 2 foamrollers..

  83. Sightus

I would go for new Garmin Forerunner.

  84. John Bergquist

Garmin Forerunner 920XT to replace my 910!

  85. Tomasz Górzyński

    A new FR

  86. I’d probably go for an action cam. Either a Go Pro Hero 5 or Garmin Virb Ultra. Decisions decisions…

  87. Colin

Garmin Virb Ultra 30 for awesome skiing and mountain biking videos with data.

  88. Michael

I’d get a Garmin Forerunner 235 with the built-in HRM. My 310XT has a cracked face, the HRM just gave out, and I forget to bring the HRM strap along too often!

Choice #2 would be the Fenix 3.

  91. Sebastian

I would either get a go pro hero 5, or put it towards a magic!

  92. Christopher m. Patti

I could really use a power meter. The 4iiii Ultegra comes right in at the $500 level, so that would work. Those Fenix’s are pretty attractive though. Can’t decide!

  93. Ritchie Champion

A wahoo elemnt for my wife’s new bike

  94. Tom Vanderhulst

I’d get a power meter like my buddy The Fly is recommending me :-)
