Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
I would buy a Fenix 3 since I need something to track my cycling effort. I’m currently using my phone and that doesn’t do speed and cadence let alone hartrate. So a Fenix 3 from Garmin would be a good first step. Might even consider a Fenix 4 depending on when it comes out and on the features it has :-)
I would buy a power meter so I can guage my power on short and long rides.
I would get the garmin 920xtfor no other reason than I want it. I have upgraded things for reasons not as good as this before.
Fenix 3, looks good and works!
I’m very interested in the Garmin Forerunner 630. My Forerunner 610 is starting to fail on me, and I can use something up-to-date to assist in next year’s marathon training.
A new electronic trainer would be at the top of my list of many wanted items.
Stan
I’d go for a Garmin 520. It’s what I wanted so I could do the live updates for my wife, but settled for the Polar M450…
Garmin 630 because I’d like to track my upcoming 50k’s and marathon in the coming months.
I would get a WAHOO KICKER to rock for the winter!!!
I am training for a Half Ironman and a Full Ironman this year. I am still rocking a 310XT tri watch. Although a solid watch, it is starting to show its age. I would invest in a new piece of electronics to aid in the hundreds of hours of training I have in front of me.
The bePro S power meter pedals – because I’m not riding to power yet and it would make coach really happy!
A Power Meter as it’s one of the few cycling items I don’t have :)
or a GPS watch with optical heart rate monitor as my wife doesn’t like the chest strap HRM,
or a Smart trainer to replace my dumb one :)
or a Garmin 520 for the wife because her Garmin 910XT looks silly mounted her handlebars :)
A Scoche Rythm would have been nice
I need a weehoo trailer for my toddler, otherwise I won’t get to ride much this summer.
For sure a garmin fénix 3
I’d get the 920 cause my 910 is starting to get funky
I would love to have a FR235 because i like built-in optical HR sensor .
I’d get a TACX Neo, coz it’s freezing out right now, and I don’t have a trainer!
Would love a Garmin Fenix 3 – I have a newfound appreciation for endurance sports after recovering from illness and gaining my health back through exercise!
Vivoactive HR! (okay, so it hasn’t been so much as announced yet, but I’ve got my fingers crossed.) Plus the various sensors to go with it.
Fenix 3 because I need some wrist bling.
Varia lights!
I want a BSX Insight II!
I’d love the new Garmin FORERUNNER 630
Probably another powermeter.
Garmin 520 b/c my 910 won’t talk to my power meter.
A new trainer to get a head start on training for next year and to burn off those few extra cookies this holiday season.
I need a power meter for the road bike.
I’d get a suunto ambit, to make up where my bike computer fails.
Need a Quarq Riken Al powermeter on my training to improve my cycling
I would get a garmin fenix or any other multi-sport watch to improve my training and participate of a triathlon
A power meter to train better.
I’d get a Garmin 920. I have a 305, but as I ramp up and do more and more swimming for longer triathlons, I need something I can take in the pool.
I would get the Quarq Riken AL 110BCD Road Power Meter Crankset so I can finally start training with power.
A garmin watch so I can train for longer distances!
GoPro HERO4 Black. Have been eyeing a GoPro HERO4 Black to capture all the nice scenarios and moments I encountered during my runs and explorations.
I would probably get 4iiii’s Precision Power Meter, I don’t have one yet, but hope to get it one day.
Garmin Fenix3, love my Fenix 2, but its getting a little worn, shiny and new (and better GPS accuracy would be cool).
Probably a Fenix 3 but I would definitely spend a few hours trawling the site changing my mind before committing.
Wahoo kickr desk
I could use a Di2 climbing shifter
A wahoo kickr to use with Zwift !!!!
A new smart trainer. So I can workout all winter.
a garmin fenix 3 please!
thank you!
Probably a Garmin 520. My riding friends all got one for Christmas and I can’t be the guy with the old technology!
Garmin fr 920. Just cause it cool.
Garmin Fenix 3 I’d like to have the multi-sport watch so I don’t have to use multiple devices.
Santa couldn’t decide between a stages and 4iii. So I need to buy one myself. ;)
Thanks for the chance to enter. I’d likely buy a Garmin watch!
A Garmin Fenix 3 with the nice metal band……a watch for everything!
Santa was good to me; I guess I was on the nice list this year.
Can I ask for more shiny things? I could use a power meter or a smart trainer…
I would pick up a bike computer to go with the PowerPod power meter that I backed on Kickstarter.
A fenix 3 would be cool.
Garmin 920xt since my Edge 500 broke and my 310xt is getting old. Tri bundle would be even better.
I’d nab the Garmin HRM Triathlon strap (which I’m probably going to pick up soon enough anyway).
Garmin 920 with all the extras
Garmin Edge 810 for longer ride, I have been using cellphone while riding but always end up with max 2-3 hrs battery life.
A boat load of Balaga socks. Can’t live without them thanks to your reference but seem to lose them as fast as I buy them.
The list is long since both my road and tri bikes were stolen. First is the Redshift Sports Aero system. I’m getting a new bike, but I just can’t quite throw out cash for two at once. So this will give me a couple of years on the road bike before I buy a tri bike in frustration.
I would go for either a Polar V450 bike computer with cadence sensor, or the m800 with cadence and stride sensor. Depends if i decide to take some care of my swimming, and if I want to have all in one or separate units.
Would really love a power meter for my 2016 training plan. :)
A power meter would be a trick
Edge 520 because I have a new bike and it needs a friend :)
4iii power meter. Dreaming of having one
Garmin Fenix 3 because I would love a nice multi sport watch. I’m tired of waiting for my slow Nike TomTom to catch a signal ?
4iiii’s Precision Power Meter or similar
I would by a new trainer!
I’d get a GoPro to capture all my outdoor adventures!
I think I would get a 4iiii’s Precision Power Meter because I don’t have a power meter yet.
I would get a Withings watch to go with my fancy new scale
I’d like a new Garmin Watch…..
If I were to be the lucky one, I would use my credit toward a Garmin 920xt. Would like to have it but couldn’t justify spending the money since I have a perfectly good 910xt now.
If I win, I would either get a Cycling Computer (Garmin 520/810) or a Garmin Virb. I’ve been using my watch to display data, and I’d rather have a dedicated device with more fields (less scrolling through screens). On the other hand, I’ve been itching to film some of my activities and the Virb would be perfect.
After playing with Zwift on my new Kickr Snap, I realized I need the Wahoo Desk. I know Clever Training does not sell it, but in place of that I’ll take any conceivable mount to mount my iphone (Zwift mobile control) Garmin 510 (maybe upgrade that one too) and everything else I need to prepare for the cold winter indoor rides ahead once El Niño passes.
A BSX gen 2 would make power data much more interesting.
I’d like to have a Garmin Fenix 3 for my hiking and trail running
I’d like a box insight. To be more precise in my limited training time
A rose gold Fenix 3, because my fiancé refuses to buy me one!
I love the gopro hero 4 rainmaker bundle. I would start a video blogger next year

A new powertap
I’d get my wife a vivosmart HR because…well…she really wants one. And then I’d get something for myself…that is all.
I would really LOVE the new Wahoo Elemnt GPS. Why? To be rid of buggy Garmin bike computers forever!
I’d like a 920xt as my first triathlon watch (or something compatible).
I’d get a garmin cycle computer for my new bike I bought this fall.
Or maybe a new running watch since my 405 decide to die last week.
I’d get a Garmin 520. My Garmin 705 is getting a bit long in the tooth.
Need a Garmin 1000. Mine broke
4iiii’s Precision Power Meter is my choice, as I want to get maximum benefits from my training.
Garmin Fenix as I think they look cool and are powerful.
I didn’t get my son a bike!
I’ve got my eyes on a new trainer.
Edge 520 would be a nice upgrade.
If I were the lucky one, I would love the Garmin Fenix 3. Why, upgrade needed to capture my swim, bikes and runs:-)
I would likely get the new Garmin Running watch 630 I think it is? Thanks for the prizes!
Would love A power meter? SVP
I’d grab a Garmin Forerunner 235, because I’m sick of strapping on a heart rate monitor and like the idea of the wrist-based one.
I want a new Garmin 920XT.
my 910XT is dying… time to get new gadget!
Power meter would be my pick to help my training both on the road and on the trainer.
Probably get a 230 or 235 running watch for my wife. She has some big race goals this year and the feedback would be very helpful.
