The Didn’t Get What You Wanted $500 Gadget Giveaway

IMG_2902

I’m sure many of you received various sports gadgets over the last few weeks as part of the holidays.  But for those unlucky elves who received a half-eaten gel packet in their Christmas stocking from their not-so-significant others, I’ve got a festivus of a present for you: This giveaway.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway crime.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on basically anything they sell.  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from the new Garmin Fenix3 to a BSX Gen2 Insight to a random pair of socks to the 4iiii’s Precision Power Meter, or heck, even towards a new trainer.  Whatever floats your boat.

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of what product you’d get and why (but don’t worry, you can change your mind later if you win).

The reason you need a short description of ‘’why’ is that if you just put a simple product name (i.e. A360), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM.  Got all that?

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Thursday, December 31st, 2015 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock.

it’s a toss up between a Garmin Fenix 3 or a power meter for my road bike.

  2. Zack Desmond

4iiii precision power meter because you can never have too many power meters!

  3. Cayce Troxel

Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire in rose gold…because black is for boys and FINALLY Garmin has taken the female triathlete population into consideration!

  4. David Burgess

I have been anxious to get the Garmin Fenix 3 with an activity tracker, auto workout uploading and all the multi sports options I generally use.

  5. Jazzar

I have no idea what I would get… but since chances are slim anyway I’ll think about it if I win :-)

  6. John S.

The first thing I would get is a new helmet, as mine hit the pavement the day after Christmas.

  7. Jared S

Garmin bike computer to have better data for analysis.

  8. Andy

    A drone

  9. Marc S.

I will use the $$ to defer part of the cost of a PowerTap hub.

  10. Nicole

    I would love a Garmin 920xt!

  11. EthanS

Fenix3 b/c a running watch upgrade and a swimming watch in one just rocks.

  12. Tom L

A 4iiii or stages power meter for my MTB bicycle because it looks out of place next to my roadies that have power meters !

  13. Jake Saunders

Id get the garmin 920xt because my current garmin has run its course! No pun intended!

  14. Mike G

An upgrade to my Garmin 310xt. Thanks!

  15. David Nyskohus

New GPS head unit. My current Garmin unit has lost the ability to hold its charge, so runs out of battery after only a couple of hours…

  16. Brad Webb

I really need a power meter. Any power meter. Also could use the Garmin edge or the wahoo Kickr trainer.

    Thanx!

  17. Matthew Aguirre

i would definitely put that towards a power meter. Ive never had one before.
    Thanks for the giveaway Ray

  18. Dale

Garmin Fenix to take hiking plus it just looks cool!

  19. Brendan Lewis

a kuat rack as i can’t fit my 7 year old son and mountain bike in the car together and he’s wearing through shoes really quickly walking along the freeway in front of the car.

  20. Alan

Beware of the Trackers with the green lights, I wore a Gramin Forerunner 225 for a few months and red spots appeared directly under the green dots. Had them checked out by skin specialist and they turned out to be BCC forming and they were removed and confirmed. Garmin said that they don’t make the lights and the connection between the spots and lights have not been proven yet but Garmin are looking into it.
So keep an eye on the area under the lights and if red spots show go see a skin specialist.

  21. Vincent

Fenix 3…. Desperately need (want) a new watch!

  22. LC

It would be great to get a second Tacx Vortex smart trainer so that I can have company doing indoor Zwift sessions. And the new Garmin forerunner 235 wouldn’t hurt either!

  23. Jonathan

If I were ever so lucky to win I would get the Garmin 520 cause I’m tied of swerving due to me starring at my 910 on my wrist. Haha thanks for doing this Ray!

  24. Dan Zimmerman

I’d love to get a new running watch since my 910XT is becoming less reliable by the week. Maybe a Tom Tom runner’s watch?

  25. Taylor basye

Tacx Smart Vortex trainer would have been nice!

  26. John Bairen

I’d probably get something with a heart rate monitor built in.

  27. Chad Bowser

a new trainer, wahoo kickr….because riding in the cold is not my thing

  28. David C

I’d pay the difference and get a sapphire Fenix 3… I’ve had the Apple Watch for a long time now but I just plain disappointed at not being able to add the functionality the Fenix already comes with, I honestly thought that 3rd party apps would do that for the Apple Watch but it just can’t be or hasn’t been done.

  29. Matt You

HD camera for cycling purposes, likely a Garmin Virb XE

  30. Spokejunky

I’d get a Garmin Fenix 3 as I’ve found it difficult to find a watch which I could use for all my cycling, hiking and everyday use. Usually I have to settle for one or maybe two of the three above, but never all like the Fenix appears to address.

  31. Kirk Foster

I would get the 4iiii power meter. This item would help me train more efficiently.

  32. Vil

I would get Garmin Edge 520.

  33. Bryan

Probably a go pro. I just started mountain biking and need to capture all the stupid things I do.

  34. Tony

    Love the Garmin Edge 520.

  35. Dan

I would get the Garmin Vivoactive and a Garmin Edge. I currently use the Garmin Fenix 2 but it doesn’t track throughout the day and is fairly small for cycling.

  36. Kenneth

Fenix 3 or 920xt, I’ve been using my Garmin 305 ever since it came out in 2006. It’s a workhorse but need to analyze new metrics for SPEED GAINZ!

  37. Samuli

I’d lovw get Suunto Ambit as I’ve enjoyed my T4 that now is quite dated already and I want go trail running with GPS next.

  38. JimL

BSX Insight. I think there could be some future utility in this as a training tool. Left over goes to a new HRM-swim although I’m not sure that is as useful.

  39. Kevin Plouff.

I’d like to buy a Garmin 630 so I can crawl out of the stone age and use a watch that has GPS and can synchronize my runs. Here’s to a happy New Year! Cheers!

  40. Carolyn whyland

Any kind of power meter so I can compare numbers with the boys on Monday mornings around the water cooler. Thanks!

  41. Colin

    Another garmin or Powermeter

  42. Kevin Karr

    I would purchase a Garmin FR920!!!!!

  43. Patrick Smith

I’d get the Garmin forerunner 235 or an Edge 520. My edge recently stopped working on me and I have old 310x that seems bigger than my phone.

  44. John Doyle

I’m hoping for the Suunto Ambit3 or Ambit4!!

  45. Derek Dimaline

It wouldn’t be for me but for a dear friend. A 4iiii power meter would really help him get his training on point.

  46. Daniel Welch

I’d probably get an garmin edge or a powertap power meter because I love gadgets!

  47. Paul

Garmin Edge 520. Also little computer that looks like it does it all.

  48. Robert

With my winning credit I would likely go for the Garmin Fenix 3. My Ambit2 is getting “long in the tooth” and I would like to update my tech.

  49. Nicole Welch

My husband wants a powermeter… why? I have no clue but he does like to spend money….

  50. Barb Kennedy

I’d grab a Garmin Forerunner 235 because I just can’t stand that heart rate monitor strap for one more run! My FR220 is working perfectly so I can’t justify that kind of expenditure – a gift would be nice!

  51. Kartik Jayaraman

    I’ve been salivating over a Fenix3…!

  52. Devin Wade

Garmin 920xt tri package. I have a 305. Looking for the new features

  53. Leo Goodstadt

I wouldn’t mind a Garmin 630: it would be a tremendous upgrade from my current Polar and I wouldn’t have to lug around a separate GPS any more

  54. Joseph Butler

I’d snag the Garmin Forerunner 235 plus a few articles of clothing or something. Based on DCR review it seems like a great watch for the value versus others out there.

  55. joe

    Fenix 3 I do believe

  56. Heather

I have the Vortex on backorder from CT…or the Garmin 235.

  57. Greg

I’d get a Garmin 520, my 500 is getting touchy to connect.

  58. Rachel

Some sort of Garmin watch! I’ve got a list going of which ones would be top, but who knows.

  59. Reese

I’m a new athlete and would love to have garmin 630 to start my new and improved life

  60. Suzanne

    Garmin 230 but it’s 10 better than the 220.

  61. Kevin V

A nice down payment on a P³ or Garmin to replace my tomtom.

  62. Sharon

I’d really like a Garmin Vivoactive so I don’t have to change my watches so often!

  63. Erin D

bicycle tubes and a wool beanie.

  64. Jason Larocque

I will buy a nice 4iiii power meter for my new Argon 18 bike Nitrogen bike !

  65. David Rhoades

Probably a 920XT to get better swim data.

  66. I really wanted to get a Garmin Index and XT920, i’ve been without a job for a few months now and i’ve been really picking up my training schedule, and find i would like both, but simply lack the funds (with the no job), so yeah, i wouldn’t have wanted them if i had the money, and i don’t have the money when i have the need, both would get me better insight and make me a better triathlete.

  67. Mark Detweiler

Stages power meter – so I can better track my training and riding

  68. David Swafford

Garmin’s Edge Explore 1000 — because I get lost quite easily!

  69. Nicolas C

I’d buy a KICKR desk and 47 water bottles! I sweat a lot so hydration is important.

  70. Tanasut

    A new bike computer.

  71. Stuart

    Suunto Ambit 4

  72. Bruno Cunha

I would buy the fenix 3 sapphire!

  73. Gijs

I’d really like to buy myself a decent powermeter!!

  74. Marice

I want the Garmin Forerunner 630. Please and thank you :)

  75. Julia Harter

I would get a new Garmin running watch and an activity tracker b/c “want” is almost the same as “need”, right? ;)

  76. BM

    New Garmin GPS watch

  77. melissa D.

I think I would get the Garmin 235 or the Edge 500.

  78. Steve

I would buy bike safety. I need a new helmet because the pads are falling out of my current helmet. I haven’t picked a new model yet. I would probably add one of those Garmin bike radars or maybe a Fly6 to my wish list.

  79. Carl

Garmin 520 for sure. Really would like the strava connectivity and wireless downloads.

  80. Jerry C

    Garmin 520

  81. Nicolas

I’d get a Fenix 3 because it’s the best GPS superwatch available today.

  82. Satish punna

I would buy the garmin 520 since it would be much better than my 500

  83. Thomas Spinner

Woukd love a polar m450 to round out my m400!!

  84. Alan E

I am leaning toward the Fr920.

  85. Nick

A Garmin Fenix 3, possibly the best do-it-all watch

  86. Annie Miller

I’d love a 4iiii power meter so I could enjoy my little red road bike (little because I’m 5’3″) during the cold dark Canadian winters whilst on zwift. Especially desirable since we are about to be walloped by 30cm/12 inches of snow tomorrow !!!

  87. Krishna Dayanidhi

The Fenix 3 for sure. I have a Fenix2 but I like the look of the Fenix3 much more and I really want to use ConnectIQ.

  88. Trevor

The new Fenix 3 is awfully tempting and would probably be near the top of my list, but it might also be nice to upgrade my Vector to the 2S.

  89. Chris Capoccia

fenix3 for running and hiking to retire the ambit2s that i ran over with my car but is still kicking although i wouldn’t go swimming with it even after i replaced the faceplate.

  90. Pall Arnar Erlendsson

Power meter. With out a doubt.

  91. miguel

a fenix 3 of course. all included!

  92. Daniel

Probably the Fenix3 because it pretty much covers everything! I love that it features a multiple sport options, alitmeter, barometer, compass, glonass, and Connect IQ!

  93. Frank

I’d get another power meter for my other bike

  94. Russell

The money would go towards a power meter for my bike.

  95. Jared Snow

New Trainer – need to apply a little balance in my life and make sure the little humans living in my house remember me as dad…and not the tall guy in spandex that appears periodically.

  96. Damian

Watch upgrade for me, Fenix 3.

  97. Tim

    Garmin Edge 820

  98. Sergio Dantas

A Fenix 3… thinking abut giving triathlon a go!

  99. I would love a smart trainer. I have fluid but found the power readings to be way off and and this is somthing and the resistance that would help me. .

    Thank you

  100. Becky

I need bike gear. I am just getting into triathlon so I need so much that I don’t even know where to start dreaming.
