The ‘Anything On My Recommendations’ List Giveaway!

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could pick any gadget that’s on my ‘2014 Winter Sports Gadget Recommendations’ list and call it your own?  Yup, I agree.  And, so does Clever Training.  So they’re offering up to one lucky holiday duck just that.

Be it a new GPS watch, or a super-high end trainer – it can indeed be yours.  It’s like the Price is Right Showcase of sports technology products.  Minus having to guess the price or pay for it.

The rules are simple here, simply drop a comment below with the following:

To Enter: The details of one workout or race that you’ve got scheduled between now and the end of the year.

Simple enough?  Good.

The giveaway entry period will run through Monday, December 8th, 2014 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  I’ll be giving you one device of your choosing from the list from Clever Training.  Winner will be chosen at random and announced on roughly Tuesday, assuming the interwebs work in London for me on Tuesday.  One entry per person.  The product will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately assuming in stock.

This giveaway is sponsored by Clever Training, which I’ve got a great partnership with.  As you probably remember, by picking up sports technology gadgets from Clever Training you support the site.  And on top of that, all DC Rainmaker readers get an exclusive 10% off all products they sell (basically every sports tech company/gadget/device) using coupon code DCR10BTF or now via the VIP program.  Plus, there’s still tons of Black Friday-type deals going on. And most of all, by using Clever Training you support the site in a big way – so I appreciate it!

Have a great weekend all!

Heading out to Vancouver Island for Christmas and hoping to finally complete a Nanoose Bay to Comox and back ride. Its just over 190km round trip and i tried a few months ago in October but bailed after 160km and knackered legs due to a brutal wind. 2.5 months later of some trainerroad and i’m hoping to slay that beast.

I like to do a brisk 10k run on Christmas Eve once the kids are in bed. I pretend it’s to make room for Christmas dinner the following day, but in reality it’s to help me get to sleep because I’m still a big kid at heart and can’t sleep.

Currently training for my first half marathon. Two months ago I started running having never previously gone for a run of more than 7K. A couple of weeks ago, I did my longest run ever at 14K. Before the end of the year, I’m hoping to get up to 18K on one of my workouts. That’s easier said than done, as the roads here are already ice covered with temperatures well below the freezing mark.

  23. Anthony

  38. Shyam T

As part of my half marathon training plan, this month is chock full of interval, easy pace, and long distance runs.

  39. I still row (I wish you did too, Ray!), so I’ll tell you my post-holiday workout.

Get on an erg at your local gym or cross fit. Strap on your HR Monitor and pair with the erg. Enter in the following intervals: 12′ on, 1′ off, 11′ on, 1′ off, 10′ on, 1′ off (all the way down to 1′ on, 1′ off). Rubber band your mobile phone to the erg monitor or pull a big TV in front of you and start rowing!
It ends up being 78′ of good erging that’s pretty stress free. I like to do it at 140-150 HR but keep the strokes per minute under 18, ideally at 16.

Good luck to everyone and happy holidays!

  40. David

60k mountain climbing session on the bike! (It’s summer where I am, so the oppressive heat should make for a nice companion travelling at <10km/h up hills!)

Houston Half Marathon, not in December, but in mid Jan 2014

  47. David Thetall

With 3 little kids and always changing New England weather, it’s hard to do too much planning for training runs (especially with no races on the horizon pushing me). So, the most I have planned right now is to take advantage of those rare December days when it gets in the 40s and just go run as far as my legs will take me. If that day never comes, you’ll find me grinding it out on the treadmill.

  48. Jason Newville

A continuation of 100 days of running with my kids.

  49. Adam

Having packed all of our belongings into a tiny storage box we decided to congratulate ourselves by running up mt Victoria in the wind and rain. Left the VFFs behind so here goes the clodhoppers!
