While meticulously lining up the above action cameras for some underwater tests this week I realized that somehow I missed April on the giveaway plan. I’ll blame the stingray for that, as clearly there’s no other explanation. But don’t worry, I won’t forget June…after all, we all know what happens in June! And with a massive ton of hot new gadgets on the market, I promise it’ll be EPIC!
And while it’s not technically May Day anymore, it is a day in May, thus one could technically still call this a May Day Giveaway (and I am). But no matter what I call it – it’s still a giveaway, and that’s what counts!
So in order to get folks all spring’d up, it’s time to give some stuff away! In this case, that’d be a $400 credit to Clever Training. Which, is enough to cover any of the action cams above (including the GoPro that I took the photo with) – or, any other gadget they sell, like a new Garmin, Suunto or Polar unit. Or you can use the credit towards a trainer or power meter. Your choice.
To enter yourself in, simply leave a comment below with the following:
To Enter: Tell me your next planned race (location/rough date) and the goal for the race. If you don’t have any planned races this year, then let’s go with the last race you competed and how it went.
Got it? Go forth!

Entries will be accepted through Monday night, 11:59PM Eastern time (May 12th, 2014). I’ll be you giving one device worth up to $400US from Clever Training. Winner will be chosen at random and announced on roughly Tuesday, depending on how sunburned I get at the beach on Monday. One entry per person. The winner can decide on which device after they win. For devices/gadgets/gizmos over $400, the winner can pay the difference.
This giveaway is sponsored by Clever Training, which I’ve got a great partnership with. As you probably remember, by picking up sports technology gadgets from Clever Training you support the site. And on top of that, all DC Rainmaker readers get an exclusive 10% off all products they sell (basically every sports tech company/gadget/device) using coupon code DCR10BTF or now via the VIP program. And most of all, you support the site in a big way – so I appreciate it!
Note, if you’re US Active Duty Military – you can submit your entry via e-mail (now closed). No Easter bunnies allowed via this method. Mmmkay? Thanks all!

I can’t wait for the season to start! My next race is my first tri of the year – The Columbia Triathlon – an Olympic distance event in Ellicott City, Maryland. My goal is to treat this as a warm-up race for the Rev3 Quassy Half that’s 2 weeks later… however secretly I’m hoping to improve my time over my last 2 years and go top 10 in my AG.

Two weeks ago I raced the Copenhagen Ultramaraton 50K for a 3rd place on the podium – after the race took the bike all of 3 kms to my home. Love it when races are close by.
In my next race I’ll not be racing even though I’ll be wearing a bib – instead I’ll be pacing a friend for his first 5K race after a 15 meter fall from a scaffold onto tarmac two years ago that put him into a wheelchair. Through immense willpower he has fought his way back to almost normal and the aim is to come in between 30 and 35 minutes give or take.
Next race is Olympic distance in Columbia, MD. Goal to beat 2:45. Thanks for all the valuable information. Love the site

Race of Grace sprint triathlon. Next Saturday May 17. Goal is to place in age group.
Previous race I join the 4K Fun Run, then 5K Mandiri Run.
Next race I want to join “Jakarta International 10k” on 8th June 2014. And after that increase with half marathon and trail run!! Can’t wait!
Next “race” is the Alpenbrevet, likely I will try to do the Gold route, which is 172km over 4 mountain passes in central Switzerland. My goal is only to finish, as I’m currently recovering from an operation on my foot and have not been able to put a shoe on my right foot for the last 2 weeks.

My next race is the Sulphur Spring 25km Trail Race. Since I’ll be running with a buddy who hasn’t trained much, my goal is to get him across the line alive
My very first mini-triathlon is this Sunday, which is Mother’s Day (at least it is in Canada). I’ve been training with an all-women’s program that puts this race on that allows us to try out a triathlon in a more comfortable environment. It’s un-timed event (although OF COURSE I’ll still time myself!) so there is no pressure to rush. The goal of the program is to have all women finish strong – it doesn’t matter if you have to slow down or walk. I’ve met some wonderful people through this experience and started blogging about it, which I’ll continue to do after the race is over as sort of a motivational tool. My goal for the race is to complete it with a smile on my face the whole way (maybe not through the swim). This will be my first Mother’s Day and my 10-month old will be out on the course cheering me on (or trying to figure out what is going on). I’ll also be thinking about my own mom who passed away 3 years ago. If she could, she would be standing out there cheering as my biggest supporter.
My next race is the Redondo Beach Tri on June 8th, and my goal is to do it in less than an hour! Last year I was just shy of that goal and I’ve been training non-stop since then. Oh, and I love gadgets!
Coming off downtime and building back up for fall marathons, including Baltimore and Marine Corps.
My next race will be on June 8th. It takes place in Darmstadt, Germany. Its the official German Agegroup Championchip on the Sprint Distance.
Last years time is 1h10min. My goal is to beat this time and go for approximately 1h5min.

Well, I just ran the Mallorca triathlon — my first ever. I came in about 2% from the end, so my goal is move up to the middle of the pack next time (though I’d settle for any improvement!)– looking for a triathlon with some openings before the autumn… Like Ben, above me — I’d love to come in ahead of my wife (unlikely for me, too).
Going for my first ironman distance at Placid. Goal… enjoy every mile with smile going from ear to ear!

SportingLife 10K in Toronto. Just for fun. Will run with my Garmin Virb Elite.
My next scheduled race is Race #3 of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Time Trial series in Charlotte, NC on June 18. My goal is to set a new Personal Record, which I would have done during race #2 a couple of nights ago had I not had a mechanical problem preventing me from getting the bike into the big ring. Even with being stuck in the small ring and giving up a ton of speed on the fast back straight every lap I still came within 16 seconds of my PR so I think I can do it if weather conditions cooperate a bit.
The Peachtree Road Race 10K in under 50 minutes.
Austin Jalf Ironman in October. So excited.
I really don’t race often, but will be doing my home town 5k this year. Not much of a speedster, hoping for 22-ish.

My next race is actually tomorrow! The local elementary school is hosting a 5k to raise money for the school’s computer lab. The bonus is that it’s near my house. I’m not a speedy runner. I’ve been running a little faster lately so I hope to average a 10:30 pace. My best time at this distance is 33:12 so we’ll see if I can beat that!
Gulf Coast Triathlon – Tomorrow
Relaying the swim and the run. Goals are to not drown on the sub, sub 32 next, with sub 30 being super fantastic. The run goal is to stay in one piece when it’s 90 degrees with no cloud cover and crawl over the finish line.
