Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
Please include in the giveway. Mahalo!
I generally object to the way most people overuse the term “BBQ.” BBQ means many hours of slow cooking over low heat such that meat stays incredibly moist and tender. Usually what people mean when they say “BBQ” is “grill out,” e.g. burgers, etc. on the grill.
That said, I’ll be doing the latter this weekend and playing a lot of beach volleyball. With a race coming up the following Saturday I should theoretically be tapering, so I’ll give that a try even though it just isn’t in my nature!
My 3-day weekend ends my transition period (always need a break after a big race) and officially starts IM LOU training. Saturday – road race (I love tri’s, but battling it out on just a bike is fun too). Sunday and Monday – 2 big bricks, 80 miles on the bike each day, then 6 and 8 on the run.
nice run in the country on Saturday, lunch (maybe BBQ on the Sunday) with long bike ride on the Monday, providing the weather holds!
Nice giveaway, and keep up the great posts

I’m staying in town for the weekend so I’ll start the weekend off with a good swim workout at the pool and then I’m meeting up with a friend to eat and drink like Germans at Biergarten Haus. I plan to bike there but will likely need to metro home. Saturday involves sleeping in, hitting the farmer’s market then getting in a long run. I might go pick strawberries with a friend if the weather is nice. Sunday I have a long bike ride planned in Culpeper; hope to do 60 miles! Sunday night will be for relaxing with friends and grilling out. On Monday I’m helping a friend do some gardening/yard work and then we plan to hit the mall for some holiday shopping!
Hoping the rain stays away so I can get in a good bike ride, run and OWS. Plus time to eat lots of grilled foods.
Planning on grilling something on Monday with friends after a long run. then maybe a group ride
Get into trouble with the 4 1/2 year old, ride some trail, watch a Bulls ball game, and house repairs. Toss in some grills veggies on the grill and you have a receipe for an awesome weekend.
I plan to run on Saturday and who knows for the rest of the weekend, but mostly enjoy a soccer/dance free weekend with the family.

Went for a short trail run on Saturday, tried to swim in a lake on Sunday but the water was too cold, so I chickened out. And next weekend I will BBQ some steak with Montreal rub on it.

Hi from Norway
I understand that everyone sees memorial day as a time to get out of school, be off for a federal holiday and I understand that. I however will be spending it in memoriam to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice by visiting the graves of our honored heroes in Normandy and taking a nice long run through the town. I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday weekend but let us not forget why we have this time and who it truly belongs to.
